History of Operating System. And History of MicroSoft Windows Operating System.. -- techdip2
Hello Guys, I am going to share with you about 'History of Operating System'. We will discuss to history of operating system and mostly history of MicroSoft windows operating system.
First Generation(1945-1955): In the earliest computer's had no any operating system. This time computer's are works on punched card. Which is holes may be punched by hand or machine to represent computer data and instructions. All programming was created by machine language, and wiring up plug boards to control the machine's basic functions. This time computers were generally used to solve simple math calculations, operating systems were not necessarily needed.
Second Generation(1955-1965): After the 1955's start the second generation on transistors and batch systems. A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical power. In this time, magnetic tape was use for data input and output. At first data write on tape and loaded the tape drive then run it. Then the output was written on second tape. After, the input and output tapes were removed and the output tape was printed. Assembly language and high level programming languages like FORTRAN, COBOL is used for programming.
Third Generation(1965-1980): In this time is used Integrated Circuits in place of transistors. The Integrated Circuit is a micro chip and their are many types of transistors, resistors and capacitors was adjust in one IC(Integrated Circuit) circuit board. Assembly language and high level programming languages like FORTRAN, COBOL, PASCAL, ALGOL is used for programming.
Fourth Generation(1980-present): In this time, computers are more faster and powerful according to the third generation computers. Computers of the fourth generation is used Very Large Scale Integrated(VLSI) circuits. After the 1980's Bill Gates, the founder of MicroSoft Corporation was released their new operating system is MicroSoft Windows.
History of Operating System:
If you used computer in your daily life, so you know the most important thing is Operating System. Operating System is a peace of software that acts as an intermediate between the hardware and the users. Today, we could hardly imagine using a computer without an operating system but when the first computers were developed after World War II there was no such things. History of MicroSoft Windows Operating System:
Ms DOS: Early in 12 August 1981, first invented OS is MS DOS or MicroSoft Disk Operating System. Here are don't have any graphical user interface, there are only had a black screen where are users can type command and done his/her work. It made only for personal computer's on IBM company. |

Windows 2.0: In 1987 MicroSoft release them new operating system which is MicroSoft Windows 2.0. This operating system is 2nd version of MicroSoft GUI based operating system and updated with visible icon and keyboard shortcut. Basically this operating system is made for Intel 80386 processor. It is more than faster from Windows 1.0.
Windows 3.0: MicroSoft GUI based operating system Windows 3.0 is released on May 22, 1990. This operating system is much fancier, improve their windows frame and ready to photo editing work and updated with File Manager, Program Manager. This OS is start a gaming world and introduced Solitaire, Minesweeper game. This time, the file name length was limited on 8 characters.

Windows NT(New Technology): This OS is released on July 27,1993. This is introduced for server, workstation, smartly multitasking and it is the running of first purely 32-bits architecture.

Windows 95: This OS is launched on August 24, 1995. This OS is developed with taskbar, start menu, Plug and play system such that printer support. And first launched Internet Explorer web browser. Here are don't any limit to save file name, you can many characters use for save your file.

Windows 98: Windows 98 is released on July 25, 1998. These is include improved USB(Universal Serial Bus) support and as well as hardware such as DVD(Digital Versatile Disc) support.
Windows 2000: These OS is improve as well as network sharing and one printer connected to many computers. Laptop support was very well, and windows 2000 released for advance server and data center server. It was released on 17th February, 2000.
Windows ME(Millennium Edition): These is released on September 14, 2000. It was added with windows movie maker software and decrease of the booting system on MS DOS.

Windows Vista: Windows Vista was advance and faster than Windows XP and decrease the booting time according to Windows XP and released on January 30, 2007. It was developed with the chess game.

Windows 7: These OS is initially develop for touch screen interface. It was showing off virtual hard disk and internet explorer is replaced with Microsoft Edge web browser and released on October 22, 2009.
Windows 8: Windows 8 is launched on October 26, 2012. Microsoft change their start screen which is 'Metro' design that means content showing off on a grid of tiles, that causes Windows 8 was failed.

Windows 10: Windows 10 was change again their start menu which is mixed of tiles and side bar menus and released on July 29, 2015.
